Tunaliwor Kiwo Torture

Papuan farmer Tunaliwor Kiwo recounts the details of his torture by Indonesian soldiers on May 30 2010 in Tingginambut area. The soldiers arrested Kiwo and his neighbor Telangga Gire when they were travelling in a motorbike from Tingginambut, their hometown to Mulia, the capital of Puncak Jaya regency. Initially, the soldiers just asked for their ID cards. But they pushed them to the back of the military post. Kiwo was tortured till he escaped on June 2.

The torture video was first mentioned to the public on Oct. 18 by the Sydney Morning Herald and Al Jazeera. Later ABC Australia and CNN also broadcasted the brutal torture video. They prompted President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to hold a cabinet meeting in which he ordered his defence minister and his generals to arrest the perpetrators and to bring them to justice.

But they're not arrested nor tried till today. Kiwo went into hiding. This video was shot on October 23, 2010 and released by the Papuan Customary Council. Kiwo describes the torture he suffered before escaping from the soldiers on June 2.
